A Pakistani family is still hopeful of finding their relative who has been missing since 2011.

Bakht Mula Khan Torsham Khan, 45, has been missing in Saudi Arabia since April 1, 2011, according to his cousin Rafiq Ahmad Rocky, based in Riyadh.

Rafiq who provided a passport copy and photo of his missing relative, approached Arab News yesterday to help him locate his cousin saying that he had been working in the Kingdom since 1992 and had been staying with his wife. Ali, as he was called, speaks fluent Arabic and has three brothers in Saudi Arabia.

Fearing that his brother’s plight may be similar to that of five Indians who went missing in 2010 and were later found buried on a farm in Safwa, Qatif last year, Rafiq related how someone had called his brother on his mobile phone following which Ali had suddenly decided to travel to Makkah.

“It was on a Friday morning that someone called Ali and he decided to go to Makkah to perform Umrah with his friend in a truck,” Rafiq said.

He added that Ali was in contact with his wife for three days. But after he left for Madinah, he switched off his phone and they have had no contact with him since.

Rafiq said that they followed him to Madinah to search for him but failed to trace his whereabouts. “Finally, we reported his case to the Manfouha Police Station in Riyadh and published his photo and details in an Urdu daily, but have not heard any news of him to date,” he said.

Rafiq also confirmed that he still has Ali’s passport and that his name was not on the list of deportees in the Jawazat (passport office).

Appealing for assistance to find his brother, Rafiq said: “We have no information on whether he is still in Saudi Arabia or has left the country.

He had a partnership with some people in the truck transportation business in the Kingdom including an Egyptian and some locals.”
