A department for religious awareness at the Jeddah health administration is planning for the first ever inauguration of a religious awareness project entitled the “Patient’s Gift” as part of the ongoing “Patients’ Visit” program.

The project entails providing gift bags, which contain spiritual booklets, daily Qur’an readings and brochures on cleanliness and specific prayers. The bag also includes a packet containing sterile patches, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a small comb, shampoo and soap to encourage cleanliness.

Ali Grebi, the department director, described the project as part of the vision of the ministry to provide targeted and integrated care and services to patients. Patients, he said, are the focal point of all the programs of religious awareness and education provided by the ministry.

Said Grebi, the department administrator, has adopted a religious awareness program by establishing a specific committee to develop and study what can be offered to the patients. Through the “Patients’ Visit” program, the patients are provided a creative gift that could also be religiously and healthfully useful.

Grebi confirmed that the project will be launched in five hospitals in the Jeddah province and will be sponsored by hospital administrators. It will begin at King Fahd General Hospital in Jeddah on Sunday, followed by King Abdulaziz Hospital, Al-Thagher General Hospital, the Gynecology and Pediatric Hospital, and Al-Azizia Hospital, he said.
