DAMMAM: Border guards of the eastern region seized a number of fishing boats near prohibited areas close to petroleum facilities in Jubail, according to a website.

Capt. Omar Al-Aklabi, spokesman of the border guards in the eastern region, said: “The navy border guards, while on their routine patrol, saw a boat on which three people were onboard fishing in the prohibited area near petroleum facilities.”

He said that the matter was referred for investigations concerning violations of boating safety and security rules.

The spokesman said that the navy border guards in Qatif rescued three boats at sea on which nine people were onboard. He said that the boats broke down because they ran out of fuel. One of the boats was towed to Al-Mazrouyiah center and other boats were given assistance. All crew members were safe.

Capt. Al-Aklabi said that the border guards would not leave any stone unturned in implementing guidelines and laws on the security of the border and safety rules. Those who violate these rules and regulations will be punished.
