The Philippine Embassy marked the 150th birth anniversary of Filipino revolutionary leader Apolinario Mabini in Riyadh recently.

Highlighting the life and writing of Mabini, also known as "Brains of the revolution", Filipino Ambassador Ezzedin Tago said: “The event aims to promote awareness on how Mabini embodied the intelligence of the Filipino people.”

Second Secretary and Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal delivered the opening remarks commemorating Mabini’s life to a group of students from the Philippine International School in Riyadh.

Ambassador Tago led the wreath laying ceremony and opened a photo exhibit displaying snapshots from Mabini’s life. Two students also recited “The True Decalogue”, a pamphlet written by Mabini.

The program included a short lecture by Second Secretary and Consul Winston Dean S. Almeda on the history of the Philippine Revolution.

A short video presentation on Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) was also shown to the students to mark National Disability Prevention and Awareness Month, which was celebrated earlier this week.

“The Philippine Embassy hopes to organize similar informative activities to benefit Filipino students and raise their awareness about the country’s history and culture,” Ambassador Tago added.
