Saudis form one of the largest world’s population segments to view YouTube. Tapping into this potential, the MiSK Foundation has undertaken a an initiative to launch Shoof (meaning “Look”), a youth-oriented annual event, that focuses on new media platforms to raise awareness of opportunities to use this tool for development.
Shoof Spokesperson Musa Kalo told Arab News that the annual forum, which will kick off on Sunday will target important issues related to the latest digital media technology and its viewers.
The discussions and workshops over four sessions will focus on fostering talent, creative potential, innovation and opportunities, harnessing the tools of media service for the development of the country; the future of the new visual media, marketing opportunity and trade, the ethics of the new visual media, and success stories of young Saudis under the supervision of Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Founder and Chairman of the Board of the charity MiSK.
The forum will bring together pioneers of the media that are interested in working in digital media, have succeeded in proving their work in cyberspace and made substantial artistic creations to effect changes in the community.
The aim of the forum Shoof is to highlight the estimated national digital visual media; raise awareness among young people, consolidate the relationship of cooperation and partnership between the investors and the relevant authorities.
The target groups are specialists in digital visual media, individuals who wish to develop their knowledge and the private sector interested in digital media.
The forum will also highlight the contribution of visual media in the construction of society by interaction with societal issues and create opportunities for the production of short films.
“There is a thriving market for advertising in the Kingdom and through digital media there are chances of bringing about technical cooperation, improving the work environment and promote coordination among the
youth,” Musa said, adding that the forum is increasingly being seen as a platform to showcase the latest developments in technology and creating job opportunities, he said.
