The weather in the central part of the Kingdom was pleasant throughout Friday, allowing families to go to parks, malls and deserts to enjoy themselves for the weekend.

The King Abdullah Park in Malaz and the park adjacent to the National Museum were fully packed with families. Children had a field day in the park and open areas on the Thumamah Road riding desert bikes.

The Presidency for Meteorology and Environment, however, sounded a caution, saying cold winds blowing from the north to the central and Eastern parts of the Kingdom would trigger rains and cold weather in the coming days.

According to the weather forecast, there will be low visibility and cold winds due to rains in Riyadh, Eastern Province, Asir and Jazan.

Sami Ba Dawood, director general of the health directorate in Jeddah told Arab News that people should not subject themselves to extreme cold weather which would affect their health. “They should take hygienic precautionary measures in all their activities,” he added. He also advised parents to take care of their children especially in the morning to protect them from the early morning breeze during the winter.

Dr. Bakry Makeen, medical practitioner at the Sun Polyclinic in the Batha City Center, said that he had a flood of patients today because of the changing weather. “Most of the patients were suffering from asthma while others were afflicted with bronchitis and rhinitis,” he said, pointing out that generally people suffer from common cold too with the onset of winter.

Makeen advised people to wear warm clothes during the cold weather. “Its good to keep warm in this weather condition,” he added.

Following Friday prayers at a mosque in Malaz, the usual crowd of vendors was missing due to the cold weather.
