Police arrested a gang of four Yemenis, which burgled a mobile shop in Riyadh. The police arrested the burglars in the east of Riyadh while they were traveling with the loot in a Toyota Corolla car.

On arrest, the police found cash amounting to SR13,000 and mobile phones stolen from the shop. The suspects, who are in police custody, will be presented before the courts on completion of the police inquiry.

Meanwhile, the police in Al-Qassim arrested 818 violators during the past week. The media spokesman for the region’s police, Maj. Badr Al-Suhaibani said that those arrested will be kept in the prisons till the formalities are completed for deportation.

Al-Suhaibani said that his department would relentlessly continue its raid on the illegal workers to clean up the region from the undocumented workers.

According to official sources, most crimes in the Kingdom are committed by illegal residents who have overstayed their visas. As a result, the government has intensified its campaign against the residents who have overstayed their visas.

During the amnesty period offered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah before his demise, iIlegal residents were allowed to leave the Kingdom without any penalties during the grace period.

The Ministry of Interior had earlier advised all illegal expatriates in the Kingdom to correct their work and residency status following the end of the amnesty period on Nov. 1, 2013 or leave the country.

The official pointed out those arrested will be investigated, and subject to fines and repatriation depending on the nature of their respective cases.
