Asir police have arrested the man shown on video driving a car jam-packed with young students, some of them loaded on the trunk of the vehicle.
Col. Mohammed bin Sayed Al-Asiri, Asir police spokesperson, said the unnamed driver was traced via the video clip that became viral in social media.
Al-Asiri said the man, who drives students to and from a school in Bisha town during school days, was arrested for putting the lives of students in danger, aside from violating traffic rules and regulations. Overloading alone is a traffic violation.
Traffic police slapped a 48-hour driving ban on the driver and impounded his car for 10 days, Al-Asiri said.
He stressed that putting children in the open trunk of a moving vehicle is very dangerous especially to children.
