Police have issued an arrest warrant against a government employee who fled after opening fire at the director of the agency where he works on Friday, said Col. Owayed bin Mahdi, media spokesman for the Northern Border.

He said nobody was hurt in the shooting, but that the suspect had fled the scene.

Motives behind the shooting are not clear.

The accused is a newly appointed guard at the Department of Zakat and Income Tax (DZIT) in Arar who had been on the job for only eight months.

The employee had taken a vacation for a month and a half and returned to work earlier this month.

Police have intensified search for the fugitive.
