A policeman was shot on Sunday morning in the Al-Awamiya district while on duty.

The policeman was injured in his thigh and taken to hospital for treatment.

Ziad Al-Ruqaiti, a spokesman for the Eastern Province police, told Arab News that Gen. Gurmallah Al-Zahrani, the EP’s police director, visited the injured policeman on Monday and was assured by hospital staff that he was in stable condition.

“Authorities are working to arrest those involved in the crime,” Al-Ruqaiti said.
