Preparations have been stepped up for the Jeddah Desert Rally, which begins on Jan. 30 and ends on Feb. 1.

Helicopters deployed by the Public Security and Red Crescent Authority will monitor the event from the sky and provide air ambulance services if required.

The organizing committee recently visited Khalees and met with Sultan bin Muammar, its chief administrative officer, in the presence of traffic, security and municipality officials.

A committee member said that the rally would begin from Khalees and end in Bareeka, passing by Wadi Qadid and Dhabya.

“The meeting discussed matters related to organizing the rally,” said one source.

Committee members, along with other officials, visited the rally’s route to ensure security of participants. “We have inspected prospective sites for the landing of helicopters to provide air ambulance services,” said Hamoud Al-Jabri, deputy director of the rally.

“We will conduct more meetings to organize the event and ensure the safety of participants. We aim to make the rally a big success,” he added.
