Sunday marked Prince Khaled Al-Faisal’s first day in his new capacity as education minister.

Prince Khaled hosted senior officials and directors at the ministry at his office. He told them that educating a nation is the biggest and most daunting task for any minister because it involves making citizens aware of their social responsibility toward themselves and their religion, he added.

He said that Saudi Arabia has special status as a country that defends and protects Islamic values and traditions.

“Any country that abides by its (Islamic) principles will surely make it. We can prove to the world that we can develop by sticking to our own principles, not by imitating others. We can also achieve better results because Islam is a comprehensive system,” he said.

He said: “It is our responsibility to make our ministry the best in the Arab world.”

Prince Khaled later met with fresh graduates from teaching colleges, who voiced their concerns to the minister. He pledged to address their concerns through information gathered by ministry staff nationwide.
