MAKKAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has named Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah as governor of the Northern Borders province.

Prince Mishaal replaced the previous governor, Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz bin Musaed, who died earlier this month.

In decrees reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), King Salman also appointed a new housing minister and replaced the head of the royal court.

Minister of State Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Issa will replace Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Suwailem as head of the royal court, the royal decree stated.

Al-Suwailem had held the post since late April when he took over from Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is now deputy crown prince and defense minister.

A separate decree named Majid bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Hogail as housing minister, replacing an official who held the portfolio temporarily after the previous minister's dismissal in April.
