Foreign Minister Prince Saud underwent a successful vertebrae surgery at a US hospital on Saturday, the royal court announced.

“Prince Saud will undergo naturopathy treatment that follows after such surgeries,” the royal court said in a brief statement.

Prince Saud is a senior member of the royal family and one of the oldest foreign ministers in the world. He has been holding this position since Oct. 13, 1975.

As a result of his illness, Prince Saud could not attend the funeral of King Abdullah and coronation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
