RIYADH: The General Directorate of Prisons wound up on Tuesday its two-day annual leadership meeting headed by Maj. General Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Hamzi, director general.

According to Brig. Gen. Dr. Ayub bin Nahit, spokesperson, the meeting approved 12 recommendations to be presented to Crown Prince and Interior Minister Mohammed bin Naif.

The recommendations focus on enhancing technical aspects of advanced training in prisons in the Kingdom.

The meeting was attended by the prison directors from the Kingdom’s 13 regions. On the first day, the meeting was chaired by Brig. General Sultan bin Al-Saleh. The recommendations during the first meeting were discussed the following day.

Among those discussed included the pioneering paper submitted by Sattam Al-Anzi on training and its role in security and the paper on the development of manpower for the Directorate General of Prisons for women.

Also discussed was the implementation of the tasks of the general directorate on the basis of the recommendations made earlier as well as increasing capacity to meet the training needs of employees of the private sector.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of the training of highly qualified cadres both for security and rehabilitation.

Moreover, the prison directors took up a paper entitled “The impact of technology on security within prisons.”

It dealt with running integrated technical infrastructure to serve the developmental goals of the general directorate and increase the effectivity of precautions that enhance the security of the prison and prisoners.

Also taken up was a paper on “Training of psychologists and social workers and its role in raising the level of security in the prisons.” It aimed to develop current performance in accordance with the methodology in the light of scientific and professional regulations in this regard.
