Over 300 productive families are participating in an exhibition here to showcase their products including candles, woodwork, carpets, soaps, perfumes and textiles.

The event includes training workshops and a plastics art section. Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif opened the event on Wednesday at the Ibrahim Archaeological Palace in Al-Ahsa.

Latifah Al-Afaleq, chairwoman of Fatat Al-Ahsa Charitable Society, said that the organization holds the exhibition every year. The society focused recently on providing advanced training for children, and is collaborating with the nursing college at King Saud University to provide places for 30 young women, she said.

Fadia Al-Rashed, head of the exhibition, said it aims to promote a culture of producing handicrafts, help people refine and develop their skills, and create a marketing outlet for their products.

She said 300 productive families would participate. “It is expected that there would be 2,000 visitors daily. The exhibition is dedicated to school students in the morning and then to families,” Al-Rashed added.
