The winners of the newly created Prince Salman Award for Disability Research (PSADR) will be named on Sunday at a grand event at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh.

According to the organizing committee, the award is for distinguished work in the fields of health and medical sciences, educational sciences, rehabilitative and social sciences.

The prize presentation ceremony will be attended by members of the royal dignitaries, high-ranking officials and guests from around the world.

Prince Sultan bin Salman, PSCDR chairman of the board of trustees; Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, the award president; and Nasser Musa, the awards secretary-general will also attend the event. It was announced earlier that the award will be distributed at the opening ceremony of the Fourth International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation in October, which will be attended by US, European and Asian experts.

The award aims to activate the role of scientific research in improving the quality of various programs and services through the adaptation of modern technology for the benefit of people with disabilities, to help them become self-reliant, and overcome their problems.

It seeks to achieve their aspirations, as well as encourage the efforts of local, regional and global efforts to enrich the science and knowledge in the areas of disability. It will also foster an environment of intellectual creativity and scientific excellence in the field of disability.
