JEDDAH: Khaled Al-Sofyan, chairman of public events in Qatif, inaugurated the national cultural festival on Monday evening for the 11th year in a row.

The festival has been organized by the social development committee of Qatif province.

The five-day festival presents heritage, cultural and historical features of the province, with folklore artists, painters, dancers, singers, handicrafts and other experiences of the Qatif region entertaining its visitors.

Jaafar Al-Maskeen, the director of public relations and media at Qatif municipality, and Al-Sofyan congratulated Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, Prince Saud bin Nayef, governor of the Eastern region, and the people of the region and Kingdom on Eid Al-Adha.

Al-Maskeen said that the national cultural festival has a very positive impact in highlighting the development and continuation of progress in the province.

He said that the Qatif municipality participated in this festival as their social responsibility in the development and progress of the region, and implemented a development plan and its activities at government agencies and private associations.

Al-Sofyan thanked organizers for their efforts in establishing the festival, and prayed for the stability and security of the Kingdom from all evil.

Shakir bin Ahmed, the supervisor of the event, said that the festival has become the main event and attraction for cultural activities in the province for residents and visitors from all around the Kingdom and abroad.

He explained that the main aim of the festival is to feature cultural and traditional knowledge of the region with the presentation of handicrafts; art and cultural activities; lectures on the success and development of the region; reviews of experiences; and to provide inspiring programs for all generations.

At the festival, a full-length presentation on Qatif was shown to the public.
