JUBAIL: The Royal Commission for Jubail (RCJ) has been helping the Education Ministry here to prepare over 68 schools at all levels for the start of the new academic year.

The preparations include building safety, cleanliness, landscaping, and roads. Cleaners have been using environmentally friendly detergents for the first time that do not need water or energy, and set up air conditioners, taking into account the country’s energy saving strategy.

Central fire systems were upgraded and tested with instructions in Arabic. Also, floors have been replaced in classrooms where necessary to provide a suitable learning environment.

The RCJ has ensured that landscaping and interior playgrounds comply with safety standards, and introduced changes to provide pedestrian safety and traffic flow in front of schools, with a direct link to the central traffic control room.

The RCJ, which carries out this work every year, also introduced a waste-sorting and recycling system at schools, to teach youngsters the importance of environmental conservation. The RCJ has instituted this system at Jubail Industrial City.
