RIYADH: More than 40,000 used copies of the Holy Qur’an are restored for distribution monthly at the Charity Center for Caring for the Holy Qur’an in Al-Kharj, 60 km from Riyadh.

The statistics were given by Director of the Center Mohamed Al- Harbi during the recent visit of Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar to the center.

The governor made a familiarization tour of the complex where the copies of used Holy Qur’an are restored and re-distributed to countries at their own request.

Explaining the activities of the organization, Al-Harbi said the center was established 15 years ago and has a stock of 2 million copies kept for restoration. He told Prince Faisal that the center had been using the latest techniques of restoration which include spine repairs.

The center has 18 permanent workers and 200 unpaid volunteers. It receives requests for copies of the Holy Qur’an from more than 60 countries around the globe, he said, pointing out that under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Saudi missions abroad are cooperating with the center in distributing copies to those who request them.

The center is affiliated with the Charity Society for Holy Qur’an Memorization headed by Mohammed Monawer Al-Harbi.

Concluding the visit, Prince Faisal congratulated the officials of the society and others who were involved in the successful implementation of the project. He mentioned their dedicated services to the world Muslim community. The fruits of their services are seen by people in the Kingdom and others in the world, the governor concluded.
