Senior authorities are pushing for a quicker establishment of independent human rights departments within government bodies.

Once opened, these departments will be equipped to address inquiries and complaints from citizens and residents and advise them on their legal rights.

A source at the Human Rights Commission (HRC) said the decision to open these departments comes after authorities found a lapse in implementing the legal rights of citizens.

Sources, however, have confirmed that these departments would receive complaints from the HRC and other bodies and not directly from individuals.

Legal spats often arise between citizens and government entities, after which individual plaintiffs end up having to appeal to higher authorities and royal courts for their complaints to go through.

The new departments, however, will henceforth act as mediators between plaintiffs and government bodies to guarantee their rights and reduce bureaucratic red tape.
