Riyadh’s General Court got the lion’s share of real estate lawsuits filed by landlords against tenants of all courts Kingdom-wide, local media said.

Saudi courts received 3,150 property cases, of which 736 cases were heard by the Riyadh General Court.

Landlords demanded payment for all types of accommodation, including apartments, luxury villas and palaces, a local daily reported.

General courts in 13 major cities have received various cases related to the financial rights of landlords, property ownership, properly overlapping, claims of land documents and disputes over residential lands, the paper said.

Jeddah registered the highest number of property disputes, with 656 cases, followed by Madinah, with 350 cases, Makkah, with 371 cases, Alkhobar, which registered 193 cases, Jubail, with 176 cases, Taif, with 125 cases, Tabuk 100 and Ahsa and Buraidah 69 cases each, the sources said.

Cases related to land ownership involving two or more plaintiffs were prominent Kingdom-wide.

Riyadh also got the lion’s share of cases in this category, with 75 cases, followed by Abha (46), Taif (35), Jeddah (33), Ahsa (23), Tabuk (17) and Madinah (15), while Hail and Onaizah registered 14 cases each, Buraidah and Alkhobar five cases each and Jubail two cases, according to sources.
