RIYADH: Several initiatives on services to humanity and social work were announced during a three-day forum at the Riyadh International Exhibition Center, on Monday.
Held under the patronage of Ministry of Education, the forum stressed “Volunteering and Sustainability’ to create a right atmosphere for volunteer work among youths.
Inaugurating the forum, Dr. Rashid Al-Ghayadh, secretary-general of the Education Department, said: “These initiatives were drawn up to contribute to the national efforts to attain prosperity for the country under Vision 2030.”
The forum, which is going to be concluded on Wednesday, was attended by teachers, students and representatives from various local companies, besides the Education Ministry officials.
Volunteer work honorees were also announced and given due recognition for their services in a ceremony during the event.
Mohammed Al-Marshad, director general of education in Riyadh and forum supervisor, said: “The strategic move we have made will result in ideas and visions of great opportunities for volunteer work.”
He said that this could be made possible under the patronage of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
“In this forum, we have come to know the principles of human values in serving the community through volunteer initiatives,” he said.
He added that in the implementation of the different initiatives, workshops and training courses would be held. Al-Marshad’s assistant, Hamad Al-Shinaibi, was also present on the occasion.
Saleh Al-Othaim, a member of the board of directors of Al-Othaim Company for Investment and Real Estate Development, said that there has been a growing awareness of social responsibility.
“This is true in both the private and public sectors to come up with fruitful cooperation to create an environment for volunteer work,” he said.
