The Riyadh Municipality has set up a team of women to answer calls from females on its emergency number, and now provides other services such as advice on starting up businesses.

This is according to the annual report of the General Directorate for Female Services (GDFS) at the municipality. The report also identified several directorates that provide quality services for its women employees in the city.

This includes technology allowing women at its branches to file applications for maintenance, drivers or stationary in record time. The GDFS developed the mechanism with the directorate for information technology. The report also outlined how the municipality is providing advice for women wanting to start their own businesses. The program called “My Procedure” tells women how to get funding from the Saudi Credit and Savings Bank.

The municipality has a task team to supervise all female theatrical shows presented by the municipality under its ongoing annual program. They help oversee the Riyadh Summer Festival activities and Productive Families’ Festival. The annual report said the directorate implemented several campaigns at female markets in Riyadh, in addition to setting up a female team to deal with calls on its 940 emergency number.

The directorate’s employees also took part in training on the functions of the Sadad, the national payments system that allows the public to pay utility, telephone and traffic fines at banks.
