RIYADH: Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki, Saudi ambassador to the United States, said in Washington on Tuesday that the visit of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the United States will have a significant impact on the development of common interests of the two countries.
The envoy said the visit comes as an extension of the historical close relations between the Kingdom and the United States. “It will have a significant impact on the development of common interests between the two countries, in the light of the official welcome and great attention given to the visit by US officials.”
The prince said the visit comes in very favorable conditions following the announcement of Saudi Vision 2030, the economic movement that is represented in the National Transformation Program to meet the challenges of the 21st century and the investment in new economic opportunities, where the two countries will be important partners.
The ambassador pointed to the special attention given by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to the development and modernization of the capabilities of the Saudi armed forces, and the deputy crown prince’s ongoing efforts in this regard.
He highlighted that current defense cooperation between the Kingdom and the United States would promote stability and security at regional and international levels.
The envoy stressed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to combating terrorism and extremism and pointed out the Kingdom’s participation in the international coalition against the Daesh terrorist organization, the Saudi-led Islamic Alliance to combat terrorism, the Kingdom’s efforts to maintain security and stability in the region, its efforts to restore legitimacy and peace in the brotherly country of Yemen and curb the Iranian interference in the affairs of the countries in the region.
