RIYADH: South Korean Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn will visit the Kingdom next week to hold talks with top Saudi leaders to further expand bilateral cooperation in many areas of mutual interest, the Korean Embassy in Riyadh said.
Do Bong-Kae, deputy chief of mission at the Korean Embassy, told Arab News on Saturday that the Korean premier will arrive in Jeddah on May 21, where he is expected to meet with the senior leadership and discuss ways of further expanding bilateral ties in many areas of mutual interest.
He said that the details of the trip are not yet available and will be shared later.
He, however, exuded hope that South Korea-Kingdom relations would develop in many ways through this high-profile visit.
Hwang's visit comes in the wake of President Park Geun-hye’s visit to the Kingdom last year for talks with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and senior ministers in order to bolster bilateral ties.
South Korea, a one-time war-ravaged country, has emerged as a major global economic player and can become a partner for the Kingdom on its road to rapid development.
Saudi Arabia and South Korea enjoy very cordial relations that involves exchange of experts in various fields, such as medical engineering, research and development and vocational training of Saudi youths in medical science and engineering.
The Kingdom is working very closely with South Korea on the Hospital Information System, and the Far East Asian nation will help the Kingdom set up HIS in its state-run hospitals.
