JEDDAH: The Control and Investigation Board (CIB) has discovered that four employees at Tabuk health department had been receiving salaries while absent from work, with one worker getting paid for six years despite not being on the job.

A source quoted by a local publication recently, said that the person who had been absent for 6 years applied for leave and filed a retirement application after he learned about the CIB investigation. The others were absent for 115 days, 110 days and 29 days respectively. The CIB discovered that they had been paid their salaries on time. Minister of Health Khalid Al-Falih has asked Tabuk’s director general to submit a report on the matter.

The source said that the Tabuk health department had initially uncovered the fraud and notified Abdulrahman Al-Hussayan, head of the CIB. The employees had not filed for leave or indicated that they had turned up for work.
