Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, held talks with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev who arrived in the Kingdom on Tuesday for a three-day official visit. Both sides had a candid, in-depth exchange of views regarding developing Saudi-Kyrgyzstan relations, and discussed the forging of a closer partnership in various fields, which will comprise a new milestone for coordination between the two nations.

The talks focused on future prospects for bilateral relations in trade, commerce, culture, humanitarian and political spheres. Following the talks, the crown prince and Kyrgyzstan’s president witnessed the signing ceremony for an agreement to avoid double taxation and an aviation accord to establish an historic air link between the two countries.

The talks and the signing ceremony were attended by Deputy Crown Prince Muqrin, Chief of General Intelligence Prince Khalid bin Bandar, National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif, Minister of State Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Abdulrahman bin Saeed Al-Jumah.

The Kyrgyz president is also scheduled to meet with Minister of Finance Ibrahim Al-Assaf and the Shoura Council chairman during his stay in Riyadh,” said Al-Jumah. Proposals for loans and investments are also likely to be discussed by the two sides on Tuesday night or Wednesday, he added. Atambayev, who will wrap up his maiden visit to the Kingdom on Thursday, will leave for the UAE on the same day.

The Kyrgyz president is expected to announce the opening of his country’s diplomatic mission during his visit to the UAE. Atambayev will also visit Qatar on Dec. 7 where he will discuss with the leadership of the country various aspects of their bilateral cooperation. Earlier in the day, Crown Prince Salman hosted a lunch in honor of President Atambayev at his palace here in the Saudi capital.
