The land evaluation and auction committee has awarded a citizen SR15 million in compensation for holding his land — 30,000 square meters — for seven years.

Sources revealed that the owner of the land, which is located in north Jeddah, filed a complaint with the administrative court against the Jeddah governorate demanding compensation for occupying his land.

Sources said that the municipality received a copy from the land and auction evaluation committee, which said that the owner should receive compensation of SR14.921 million. The land evaluation committee’s formation aims to meet the demands of land evaluation, and the next stage of expropriation for public interest, which will coincide with the real estate index in Jeddah before the end of this year.

The committee’s duties in Jeddah and neighboring governorates include activating the role of the land evaluation committee in the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Two members of the evaluation committee should be present to evaluate expropriated properties, in the public interest in Jeddah, Rabigh, Al-Kamil, Al-Qunfudah, Al Leith and others. The committee works on evaluating cases referred to them by the public and administrative judiciary.

The committee announced that it has completed the evaluation of 12,000 expropriated properties of public interest during the last session. The committee receives a number of evaluation cases, and will continue with its tasks in light of the increased cases and demands of relevant authorities, a statement from the committee said.
