A Saudi-based Filipino nurse survived a car accident in Doha, Qatar, in which five other Filipinos were killed on Monday.

Philippine Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz identified the nurse as Suzette Rivera-Baclor of Misamis Occidental and said that she was now recuperating at Hamad Hospital.

However, two other Saudi-based nurses were not so lucky and succumbed to burn injuries caused when the car they were traveling in caught fire after colliding with another vehicle. They were Marilou Cal and Joyce Lozada Gelli.

Other fatalities included Bencris Rivera, his wife Joycelyn Rivera and their one-year-old child, Arclian Zirc, all based in Qatar.

The nurses were vacationing in Doha during the Eid-Al-Adha holidays.

The accident occurred near the Hamad International Airport on the Corniche-Wakra Highway, according to witnesses where the five Filipinos sustained burn injuries when their car caught fire after being hit by another vehicle near the Hamad International Airport.
