JEDDAH: Health authorities in Yanbu are investigating the details of a video showing a nine-year-old girl sitting on the floor and vomiting in front of the information desk at Yanbu General Hospital, while her father complains about poor health care services offered to her at the hospital.

In its statement, health officials said investigations revealed the citizen had taken two of his children to the emergency room at the hospital at 3:30 a.m. for high fever and inflammation of their tonsils.

After necessary checkups were carried out, including provision of medicine and necessary tests, a pediatrician was called to check on both cases and they were registered for admission at 6:40 a.m.

At around 8 a.m., the father was informed of the need to complete admission papers at the information and admissions desk, and proceeded to take his daughters with him, accompanied by a nurse. While completing entry documents, one daughter began to vomit and he set her down on the floor and began to film the scene, refusing to let cleaners, nurses, or security guards go near her. He completed all procedures for both cases on Sunday, and after being monitored by a pediatrician, they were released at 12:30 p.m. on Monday after their health improved and stabilized.

The father of the child appears in the video and is appealing to officials at the Ministry of Health to investigate what he considers neglect by employees at the Yanbu hospital toward his sick daughter, noting she waited more than two hours at the hospital without any necessary care or treatment.
