JEDDAH: The Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh issued on Sunday a preliminary sentence of seven years in jail against a Saudi national for supporting Daesh.
The citizen was found guilty of embracing the “Takfiri” ideology as he posted tweets on his Twitter account describing the Kingdom’s rulers, security personnel and Arab leaders as apostates.
The court also convicted him of supporting both Daesh and Al-Qaeda terrorist organizations. In addition, the defendant was indicted of writing, storing and disseminating information in order to destabilize public order. The defendant posted tweets on his Twitter account supporting Daesh terrorist activities.
The defendant was also charged with storing materials that are harmful to public order on two computers belonging to him.
Moreover, the court has ruled the defendant was guilty of communicating with a sorcerer living in a sister country via messaging app “Telegram” and sending him SR80,000 for spiritual treatment.
The defendant was sentenced to seven years in jail, starting from his arrest date four years ago, based on the royal decree A/44, and one year on the basis of Article VI of the Anti-Cybercrime Law, as well as confiscating his mobile phone and two computers.
