Saudi health clinics at the Zaatari refugee camp have treated more than 140,000 Syrians over the past year.

The manager of Saudi medical clinics at the camp, Mohammed Ismail Al-Zaabi, said the cases are distributed among 12 clinics over the course of the entire year, with pharmacies filling over 70,000 prescriptions.

Al-Zaabi said several programs were also launched for refugees, including one aimed at providing milk for children, a psychosocial support program, a disease and wound treatment and prevention program.

He said studies conducted for the purpose of identifying ways to improve services revealed that the number of beneficiaries of these programs increased substantially in 2014.

Badr bin Abdulrahman Al-Samhan, the region’s manager of the Saudi National Campaign for Syrian Support, said the clinics receive continuous support in order to ensure that the best quality care and services are provided to beneficiaries. He said a comprehensive laboratory was recently integrated into the clinics, making it the first at the camp.

Al-Samhan said the campaign will continue to provide medical and humanitarian support for Syrians during 2015, as per the directives of Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif to implement as many programs as possible to support those affected by the conflict.
