Four unidentified men opened fire at the house of a Saudi diplomat at the embassy in Jakarta.

Abdullah Al-Qarni and his family were unharmed, but the sentry sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh while trying to protect the house from the four, who opened fire while riding motorcycles.

Mustafa Al-Mubarak, Saudi ambassador to Indonesia, said the embassy is monitoring investigations into the incident in coordination with Indonesian security authorities to identify the culprits and to find out the motives behind the shooting.

“We will hire a lawyer to ascertain the details of the case without interfering in the investigation,” he said.

“We are in full cooperation with Indonesian authorities, who are serious about collecting information and clues regarding the incident.”

Al-Mubarak said that the embassy has maintained good relations with everyone and couldn’t think of a motive for the crime.

The embassy has been briefed on the latest developments in the investigation, while the sentry is being treated in hospital.
