JEDDAH: With the summer vacation approaching fast, Saudi embassies in a number of countries have issued instructions to travelers to remain alert against thefts and abductions.
The embassies directed Saudi citizens abroad to take precautionary measures such as not carrying large amounts of money in accordance with the laws of the countries of destination and ensure the passports are kept safely, a local publication reported on Tuesday.
It is also expected that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will launch awareness campaigns, which will continue until the end of summer, since the vacation this time is the longest in the history of the Kingdom, that is almost four months.
The Saudi Embassy in Cairo issued instructions to seek help of its officials if needed. In Kyrgyzstan, it told them to register their information and addresses with the nearest police station within three days of arrival.
Other embassies instructed that all Saudi passengers read the traveler guide issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs entitled “The Alert Passenger,” which includes travel instruction for them and how they could communicate with the respective embassies in a number of countries around the world.
In Bahrain, the embassy emphasized on the need to assign a lawyer in the host country before signing any contracts or selling things, and to report to the police center and the criminal detective department. If personal identification or passport is lost, they should report to the passports department. Similar instructions were issued in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar. Saudi passengers have been urged to avoid electronic dealings and be alert while using ATMs or dealing with brokers who use their personal information and data for procurement and shipping operations.
The Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom has defined the visa types and travel documents needed for travel to the country, asserting on the need to provide a copy of the invitation letter sent from that country. The consulate department also specified the type of visas issued for travel to the country including the diplomatic visa, special visa and the investment visa, in addition to work and visit visas. The tourist visa is granted upon the request of the travel agencies in Kazakhstan for a period of one to two months.
The Turkme-nistan Embassy said on its official website that entrance to the country requires an invitation letter from a party in the country, which should be approved by the immigration department in Turkmenistan, either for tourism purposes or any other purpose, and to make sure the validity of the passport is not less than six months.
