Organizers at the 34th Indonesia International Book Fair awarded Saudi Arabia the top prize for its exhibits on Monday.

The prize was given in the presence of Mustafa bin Ibrahim Al-Mubarak, Saudi ambassador in Indonesia, Zayed Al-Harthy, Saudi cultural attaché, and Madam Yadai, head of Indonesian Publishers.

Al-Harthy said the award was an honor for the Kingdom and recognized the work of the country in developing its education sector. He said the special projects on display included the work of talented Saudi sculptors and painters.

There were also displays on the history of Saudi Arabia’s heritage and culture, including on the Kaaba, making of the kiswa, the covering of the Kaaba, the expansion projects at the two holy mosques, and the Jamrat Bridge.

Visitors at the Saudi pavilion received copies of the Qur’an and prayer mats as gifts. Al-Harthy said visitors admired the book, Science and Education in the Era of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, which was translated into Malaya and English by a group of professors at Umm Al-Qura University.

Al-Harthy thanked Almighty Allah for His blessings, the Saudi and Indonesian governments and organizers for the facilities provided.
