RIYADH: The King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Center will donate 100,000 food baskets to ease the suffering of Yemenis affected by the conflict between the legitimate government and Houthi rebels and their cohorts.

The center, headed by Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, will make the donation in cooperation with various agencies that include the Muslim World League, Food and Agricultural Organization and many civil society organizations.

He expressed delight over the 100,000 food baskets to be given as the first installment in the province of Hadramaut to be distributed to Yemen’s various governorates.

Abdulhameed Abdul-Jabbar, human resources development general manager, lauded Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for his role in humanitarian work.

He expressed hope that the “humanitarian effort will bear fruit in alleviating the suffering of our brothers in Yemen.”

Abdul-Jabbar praised the role and fruitful cooperation carried out by the Joint Committee Commission in Hadhramaut. He also lauded Mohammed Al-Jabri, acting agent of the province on administrative directorates, for the role of civil society organizations in coordinating efforts for philanthropic and humanitarian development.

He called on the media to investigate accuracy and credibility of activities and relief programs to avoid negative publicity which adversely affects the province.

Saif bin Jabber, chairman of the Joint Relief Committee, said the project aims to extend support and care for Yemenis, many of whom are suffering from hunger and various ailments because of the conflict.

The conflict started when the legal government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi called for help from the Kingdom which formed a coalition to conduct air raids against the Houthi rebels and their cohorts to liberate Yemen.

A few days back, Yemeni Premier Khaled Bahah told Arab media that forces loyal to the legitimate government have already taken control of the southern port city of Aden, along with the strategic Al-Anad Air Base north of the city.

Saif bin Jabber added that the project also aims to strengthen the partnership between the public authorities and relevant organizations conducting relief and humanitarian operations.
