RIYADH: The Saudi National Campaign (SNC) offering humanitarian relief to the Syrian people continues its assistance to the Saudi Specialized Clinics (SSC) at Al-Zaatari Refugee Camp.
It provides medical, therapeutic, awareness and preventive services for thousands of refugees, and also distributes free medicines and essentials including milk for children.
An SNC official here said Monday that the SSC provided milk for 94 Syrian children at Al-Zaatari camp as part of its medical support.
According to SSC pediatrician Abdulhai Al-Khalidi, the milk was provided on pediatricians’ prescriptions, the official said.
He added that they also provided 1,650 prescriptions to Syrian refugees undergoing treatment at Al-Zaatari camp in northern Jordan.
SSC Medical Director Hamid Al-Mufalani said the services offered by the clinic’s pharmacy aim to ensure that all beneficiaries get the appropriate treatment for their respective medical ailment.
The official further said that the SSC also provided medical, therapeutic, awareness and preventive services to around 2,242 Syrian refugees at the camp.
Moreover, thousands of others undergoing treatment at the camp were provided with medical assistance last week, whereas 10,758 Syrian refugees were extended medical services by the SSC during the month of April, he stated.
He underlined that on the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the SNC continues to pay for medical care for displaced Syrian brothers and sisters to provide a healthy and safe environment to withstand the difficult circumstances they are experiencing.
To this end the Kingdom has set up 13 specialized clinics, a psychiatric unit, laboratory, X-ray department and a pharmacy in Al-Zaatari. Besides treatment for medical emergencies and for communicable and noncommunicable diseases, doctors also handle psychiatric patients who were badly affected by the conditions that drove them to become refugees.
Earlier, the SNC distributed dry food packets and dates to the displaced families and the campaign has had a significant impact on improving the living conditions of the people.
A delegation from the Arab Organization of the Red Crescent and Red Cross recently visited SSC and special centers for education and training at Al-Zaatari camp and the delegates were briefed on the relief assistance.
The delegates expressed their admiration for the quality of services being provided to the refugees, noting that the work of the SSC is characterized by accuracy and professionalism.
Significantly, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) recently commended the Kingdom for taking care of and supporting distressed Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon.
