AMMAN, Jordan: Specialized clinics sent by the Saudi government have provided 1,690 prescriptions for Syrian refugees at the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Saturday.

Dozens of varieties of medicines and medical supplies for all age groups were also distributed to refugees, the clinic medical director Dr. Hamid Al-Mufalani explained.

Saudi Arabia had been one of the biggest donors to Syrians who have fled their homes due to the civil war that started in 2011. The medical mission is part of the Saudi government’s aid program for Syrian refugees who have fled to Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey.

Syria has seen the rise of numerous Islamic rebels due to the refusal of Russian- and Iran-backed strongman Bashar Assad to step down.
