A 25-year-old Saudi has turned a mobile kitchen into a lucrative business. The young man is Mamdouh Al-Mousa, who works more than 12 hours a day with sales increasing steadily.

The story reported by local media involved a tour along the sidewalk of King Abdullah Road in Riyadh where the young man is surrounded by many passersby. He is always busy serving them hot beverages.

Al-Mousa said he bought the kitchen so that he and his friends could benefit from it during their rest hours. But his friends advised him to make the kitchen mobile and to sell hot drinks.

“I actually did that in partnership with two of my friends,” he explained.

He said that he had equipped the kitchen with all that was necessary for SR55,000.

“We started selling hot drinks and everybody loved them. We were forced to increase work hours to extend from 12 noon until two in the morning, with three of us taking care of the customers,” he said.

The kitchen stands on wheels and is attached to cars so they can move from one place to another for selling the beverages.

“Our sales amount to SR1,000 to SR3,000 a day. They increase during football games, especially during the football league season,” he said.

“Customers who cannot pay for their drinks are more than welcome to get them free of charge,” he said. “After all, there are some other customers who pay more than the value of their drinks and ask us to offer free drinks to needy people.”
