RIYADH: Leading Saudi scholars and thinkers discussed here this week the stereotype and negative image some international media projects about the Kingdom and ways to counter them.

The meeting on the theme, “The role of scholars in the correct mental picture of the Kingdom and how to repel intellectual attacks that it faces,” was hosted by King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue (KACND).

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mutlaq, chairman of the organization’s Board of Trustees, was present at the meeting. The others present at the event were Sheikh Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Manea, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, Sheikh Saad bin Nasser Shathri and Dr. Saad bin Turki Khathlan.

The KACND said that the forum sought to come up with concrete suggestions for presenting the true image of the Kingdom.

A counter strategy has become necessary, as some of those reports carry false and fabricated stories on Saudi Arabia’s policy and its teachings of Islamic Shariah.

The forum stressed the importance of holding such meetings and exploring ways to deal with the negative aspects of attacks by some world media. The scholars will also strive to the vital role of scholars through intellectuals and the media. They will also highlight the Kingdom’s role in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the foundation of peace, stability and coexistence in the region.
