Another Saudi is embroiled in a legal scandal merely 20 days after an American judge in Los Angeles acquitted a Saudi student of false charges of assault and battery made by a German woman and her lawyers.

Judge Calvin Holden has dismissed charges of kidnap, assault and battery against the student, on scholarship at a university in Missouri, after he said he did not find any evidence that would substantiate the accusations. He added that the Saudi student is known to be polite among his peers and said he would hand down a similar verdict to yet another Saudi student facing similar charges in a hearing to be held on Aug. 19.

The two Saudi scholarship students, both 22 years of age, maintain their innocence, according to US broadcast channels.

The two had been detained at a correctional facility after the judiciary had set bail at $1 million following their arrest. The Saudi Embassy had paid the bail in December 2013.

A news service in Los Angeles revealed that judicial authorities gave back $3 million to the family of student who had been blackmailed by the German woman and her accomplices.

The woman and her lawyers were charged with trying to blackmail the student into paying $20 million in exchange for their silence.
