DAMMAM: A Saudi Ph.D. scholarship student, Sultan Al-Harthi, and his research team from New Mexico State University have ranked first in a contest held by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), in collaboration with Sony Corporation, and the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM).
The project, submitted in a competition designed to 'Create the Future of Wearable Tactical Communication and Support Systems’, comprises a design for wearable tactical system to support communication and decision-making by integrating physiological and environmental sensory data and providing integrated and precise information with little manual input.
The goal of this project is to create tools that promote environmental and personal awareness for first responders and operators by displaying virtual objects and information in an integrated manner through augmented reality technology, which makes their everyday work safer and effective.
