Saudi Cultural Attaché in the United States Mohammed Eissa warned students against drifting toward any misleading calls and ideologies, referring specifically to those by IS and other extremist groups.

Speaking during the 37th meeting of the heads of Saudi Student Associations at American universities, Eissa stressed the importance of staying away from any misleading calls for involvement in strife-torn areas, noting that the mission has complete confidence in the extent of awareness among Saudi scholarship students.

“Saudi authorities do not tolerate this issue, and the cultural mission also does not accept extremist, racial, ethnic, or sectarian behavior among students,” he said. Eissa confirmed that anyone who exhibits racist tendencies toward fellow students will have their scholarship suspended by the mission.

He called on students not to resort to US law enforcement authorities regarding issues with other students, but directly contact the cultural mission or embassies within their geographic region.”

American authorities had earlier revealed that Saudi students in the United States have registered the least violations compared to other nationalities.

Eissa also advised scholarship students to attend strong community colleges in preparation for attending the best American universities.

As for problems faced by students with academic advisers, he said there have been fewer instances of this after a number of workshops. He said that any foreign or Saudi academic adviser who refuses to live up to his or her duties should end their contracts, noting that some citizens and foreign advisers have either returned to the Kingdom or terminated their contract with the mission.

He said that the Kingdom has agreements with US medical colleges and universities, adding that other specialties are not difficult to enter but there are requirements that the student must complete in order to be academically eligible.
