JEDDAH: The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) is investigating an incident involving an attack on an archaeological site in Madinah.
The commission is working with law enforcement authorities to find out the method used and the people involved in the attack.
The Madinah branch of the commission received a report indicating that an unidentified person had attacked the Fort of Ka’b bin Ashraf, which falls under the supervision of the SCTNH.
A team of experts at the office was immediately mobilized and dispatched to the site, where they discovered traces of attack left at the heritage site. Equipment used in the attack was secured.
The commission urged all citizens to ensure the protection of such historical sites and national monuments, and not tamper with any of these sites. Citizens have also been urged to report any trespassing or attacks on these sites to the SCTNH.
