Shoura Council President Abdullah Al-Asheikh recently opened the official Twitter account of the council.

In his first tweet, Al-Asheikh said: “In the name of Allah, we hereby launch the official Twitter account of the council, hoping that it will be an important channel of communication for our citizens.”

The second tweet read: “I will welcome all communication from citizens. The account also represents a new window for the council to educate the public on the works and activities of the council, its decisions and the other issues.”

Shoura Council spokesman Muhammad Al-Muhana said the official account of the council, @shuracouncil_sa, is considered a strategic media step which will have a great impact on the communication channels with citizens.

“Other accounts on social networking sites will follow suit,” he explained.
