JEDDAH: The Ministry of Haj used the shuttle-bus system to transport pilgrims during Haj.

The vehicles transported more than 1,413,386 pilgrims who came from outside Makkah, in addition to 20,977 inside the holy sites area. This season has registered unprecedented success in pilgrim transportation by using 15,367 vehicles from the General Syndicate of Cars.

Sahl Al-Sabban, the Ministry of Haj’s undersecretary for Transportation, Projects and Holy Sites, commended the government’s preparations and efforts that led to a successful and smooth pilgrim transportation plan.

He said specialists who held workshops and surveyed the holy sites during Haj reported a smooth, problem-free “Nafrah” and “Taseed” (ascending and descending from Arafat), which was overseen by a committee comprising members from the Ministry of Haj, Public Security, Executive Committee on Pilgrims’ Transportation, Tawafah establishments and the General Syndicate of Cars.

A comprehensive survey of the Grand Mosque’s Central Area and its surroundings on the 9th of Dul Hijjah to make sure pilgrims left Makkah for Mina and then for Arafat at the time specified by the Shariah.

He said the fact that pilgrims’ were able to descend from Arafat, arrive in Muzdalifah and then in Mina indicates the success of the coordination between the ministry and other authorities.
