The Saudi Philatelic and Numismatics Society (SPNS) will honor the 30 female members of the Shoura Council on the occasion of its 50th anniversary celebration on Aug. 21 at the King Fahd Cultural Center.

The editors-in-chief of leading newspapers in English and Arabic in the Kingdom and other GCC countries will also be honored during the same occasion.

Minister of Culture and Information Abdulaziz Koja will be attending the event.

“The SPNS will honor them because they are the first female members to be appointed to the Shoura Council and because of their support for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah,” said Mohsin Shaikh Al-Hassan, SPNS media and PR consultant.

He said that it was King Abdullah who had suggested their inclusion as Shoura Council members.

He added that the 30 female Shoura members have also been supportive of SPNS activities.

He said the honorees will receive certificates of recognition and will have access to SPNS meetings and exhibitions in the Kingdom. The children of honorees can also become members of the society.

“Proposals will also be made for the local sports clubs to join SPNS on the occasion,” said Al-Hassan, who is also an author.

The proposals will be made to Al-Hilal and Al-Nasser football clubs in Riyadh, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli in Jeddah and Al-Ettifaq and Al-Qadisiyah in the Eastern Province.

He added that SPNS would also establish branches in Madinah, Dammam, Al-Ahsa, Hail, Jazan, Najran, Makkah and Jeddah.

Meanwhile, Usamah Al-Kurdi, SPNS CEO, attended the Philakorea 2014 World Stamp Exhibition, held from Aug. 7 to 11 in Seoul, South Korea.

SPNS represented the Kingdom in the event and other GCC countries also took part.

“The SPNS participation was a good opportunity to showcase Saudi stamps that reflect Saudi history, life and culture,” Al-Hassan said.

The society was formed under the auspices of the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information.
