A SR12 million agreement was signed in Riyadh on Thursday to construct an endowment for the Ensan Charitable Society for Orphan’s.

The contract was inked by Prince Ahmed bin Fahd bin Salman, chairman of Ensan’s executive committee, during an awards ceremony held for the winners of a Qur’an recital competition held among the establishment’s members.

Prince Ahmed also announced the donation of SR10 million to Ensan from Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.

The building, which is to be completed within 18 months, will generate regular income for the upkeep of the charitable society.

Saleh Al-Yusuf, director-general of Ensan, thanked the crown prince and the chief guest for their unstinted cooperation in ensuring the society’s operations run smoothly.

He pointed out that Ensan looks after orphans from their birth until they are ready to go out into the world as constructive citizens.

Ensan looks after around 40,000 orphans and widows in 8,500 families in and around the Riyadh region.

“We have 12 branches , including five in the city and seven in suburbs such as Al-Kharj, Zulfi, Dawadmi, Guwaiya, Aflaj, Wadi Dawasir and Majma,” he said.

The organization has embarked on a 50-year plan strategy that aims to create a branch in each city in the Kingdom.

Ensan also looks after all the expenses incurred by the adoptive families, including food, shelter, education, clothes and other basic needs.

Cash prizes were given to the winners of the contests, while Prince Ahmed distributed the awards and certificates.
