Roda G. Ello, (37) a domestic help who had been stranded in the Kingdom for over a year was able to leave for the Philippines Thursday night. The household service worker(HSW) stayed at the Bahay Kalinga (BK) for three weeks before her departure.

Ello called Arab News early on Thursday to express her thanks to the daily for publishing an article on her which had resulted in expediting her repatriation.

She also thanked her first employer, Hamad Al-Mitris, for giving her an exit visa, the BK head and the Overseas Labor Office in Riyadh (POLO-Riyadh) headed by Labor Attache Resty SM Dela Fuente.

“I am leaving for the Philippines tonight with three others. Thirty more stranded female OFWs (Overseas Filipino workers) currently residing at BK are scheduled to leave on Saturday,” she told Arab News. Regarding her decision to leave the Kingdom, Ello said that she was receiving SR1500 a month from her four previous employers according to her contracts with them and as agreed under the Philippine-Saudi labor agreement signed last year but was unable to get along with them.

“I received all my salaries and entitlements on time but I was required to work very fast completing several tasks in a day, so I decided to leave,” she said.

After leaving her fourth employer, she first went to the manpower agency in Riyadh which had recruited her but received no assistance, following which she went to the POLO who referred her to BK. The BK is under the authority of POLO-Riyadh.

“I didn’t run away from any of my employers,” Ello said.

She said that she had worked as a cashier at a salon in Taguig prior to coming to the Kingdom. Ello, who has a family in Taguig, Metro Manila said: “I can’t wait to see my husband, Joe and my two children who are eagerly awaiting my arrival in the Philippines.”

Ello had come to the Kingdom through the Am-Phil Recruitment Agency in the Philippines and arrived here on Sept. 18, 2013.
